- Little attention has been paid to the corporate governance of banks, and in particular their director governance. In order to narrow this gap this research provides an overview and analysis of the effectiveness of director governance of the banks listed in Hong Kong. Archival and survey data elicited from 200 investors confirm that listed banks in Hong Kong exercise a high level of director governance, providing a possible explanation for Hong Kong s success as an important international financial centre.
